Joyride - Artist's Statement
I love to create art that has many layers. Upon first inspection my art will show you its movement and colours. But if you wait and listen long enough my art may also reveal to you the message that lies within. My works are informed by my own experiences and how I respond to a subject through this experience. It can also be strongly informed by various earth-based mythologies.
The underlying object of my work is to create something that interests the eye and then, questions the mind. My work is strong and colourful, nothing subdued and discreet ever presents itself in my art - no matter how hard I try! Art is a life long passion and part of the reason I sign my work with the name 'joy'. Without art my life would never be complete.
